Toe Jam Mondays: Anticipated Albums for 2011
I know this picture has nothing to do with anticipated albums of 2011, but really, what picture does? and this one still makes me laugh. The sister looks so accomplished, and the baby has no idea that this look is not normal.
But back to the music. I thought I would start 2011 with some of the albums I am looking forward to this year. Some of them have had songs that leaked, but others we will just have to wait patiently to hear.
If 2011 is anything like 2010, I can hardly imagine what amazingness is in store for our ears.
I know I could not have included all the greatness, so let me know what albums you’ll be waiting for.
Anticipated Albums for 2011:
The Rural Alberta Advantage – Departing
Following their 2008 release Hometowns, I have been patiently waiting for RAA’s next release. So when I heard that they were unleashing their sophomore album Departing this spring, I marked it in my calendar. Check out their single “Stamp”. It’s exactly what I was looking for.

Give Us The Daggers – TBA
This Toronto foursome don’t have an album, or even an EP out yet, but they have already garnered praise by critics at CMW, NXNE and POP Montreal. You only have to check out their jams here to be next on the list, waiting for this album to drop and onto your playlists. I hear they’re hitting the studio early this year, so keep an eye, or should I say ear, out.
Adele – 21
Adele’s debut 19 was so refreshing and soulful, but it has been far too long since she has graced us with her talent. Her single “Rolling in the Deep” had me had hello, so I can’t wait to see what else she has to offer.

The Cave Singers – No Witch
After the band Pretty Girls Makes Graves parted ways, Derek Fudesco joined forces with a couple of friends to continue making music as The Cave Singers. There are some high hopes for their third release and if it sounds anything like “Swim Club”, I may have found a new cottage soundtrack.

Cage The Elephant – Thank You, Happy Birthday
Cage The Elephant was welcomed into the music industry with rave reviews – I mean, who gets to play Lollapalooza in the same year of their debut release? But all of that positive feedback means big expectations for their next release. This song makes me think they’ll be just fine.
Cage The Elephant – 2024

Patrick Stump – Soul Punk
First off, I swear that is Patrick Stump a.k.a lead singer of Fall Out Boy in that picture. I had to look it up like 8 times to make sure I had the right guy. But in other news, the frontman is putting out his first solo effort early this year. He says it will have more of a soulful sound than his previous work with the band, but in this song you can still hear a hint of his past. I have to idea what to expect with this, but this song is pretty darn catchy.

The Go! Team – Rolling Blackouts
This British sextet are the masters of fusing everything from Hip Hop, marching bands, garage rock and even schoolyard chants to create the ultimate party jams.
The Go! Team – T.O.R.N.A.D.O
