So I know this title may be a little misleading since I did not actually attend the Junos, but this weekend was Nat’s (Living Yogically) birthday and although we didn’t attend the awards show, we had a little Juno run-in of our own. It did not involve any celebrity sightings but it did involve a Juno after party with champagne and a shirtless Polish businessman doing yoga moves. And I can’t forget to mention that we ended the night by flagging down an out of service city bus and getting him to drive us home. So although I didn’t sip any cocktails at the Juno’s – they still gave me a hangover.

For those of you who aren’t Canadian, The Juno’s are our Grammy’s. A night filled with the best musicians our great country has to offer. This year included live performances by some bands that have had amazing years including Arcade Fire – who won album of the year at the Grammy’s and Junos. Tokyo Police Club – whose album Champ is still a favourite of mine – and a tribute to this year’s host city Toronto and it’s impact on the industry.

The night was hosted by our very own hip hop power house – Drake. His acting skills came in handy and he did an amazing job of keeping the award show young and entertaining. His “Old Money” skit was hilarious and Drake did what he does best – he entertained us.

Talented and worthy musicians took home awards last night so I’ve attached a couple samples from some of last nights winners. If you like what you hear make sure you go out grab their albums to support our Canadian musicians.

To quote this year’s Canadian Music Hall of Fame inductee Shania Twain – “I love our lakes, I love our bush, I love our people”
