Being stagnant is a beautiful place to be.

Taking a time out is great! Just ask Zack Morris; the slow kid in a game of tag; the promiscuous girl, who just happens to have a boyfriend during spring break; or any video game addict.

If they are so great, then why do we hate when they happen in our daily lives? Whether the giant pause is in a relationship, job, fitness regime or taking a year off school to “find” yourself, take advantage of the stillness. I have learned to love the pauses in my life. They serve as an opportunity to stop, take a breath and reenergize.

Being still for so long also makes me crave movement. I can’t help but get the image of a bull, locked up in its cage before a fight. I feel like that bull, being locked and forced to sit still, and now I am being let out and ready to attack.

I am fresh off a giant pause in my life and ready to start checking off my resolutions for 2011, ready to start writing again, ready to commit to my asana practice and ready to charge at anything that comes my way.

It is the stillness that will save and transform the world. –Eckhart Tolle

Within you there is a stillness and a sanctuary to which you can retreat at any time and be yourself. –Hermann Hesse

Peace, peace, peace
